Theshield Team From Bakrie University Wins Second Place Out of 23 Indonesian Teams in Ieeextreme 19.0 (2025)
Jakarta, 10 November 2025 — Bakrie University students achieved another proud achievement through the international event IEEEXtreme 19.0, an annual global programming competition organized by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).
TheShield team, representing Bakrie University, managed to rank second out of 23 participating teams from Indonesia, while also showing extraordinary performance in the IEEE Region 10 (Asia) region. and Pacific).
The IEEEXtreme competition is attended by thousands of student teams from all over the world who compete in solving algorithmic and programming challenges for 24 hours non-stop. This year, 23 teams from Indonesia participated, coming from various well-known universities.
Based on the official results released by IEEE, the top five best teams from Indonesia are:
1. TRIOSTRONG – Indonesian Education University
2. TheShield – Bakrie University
3. DiBuffDoaOrtu – Universitas Darussalam Gontor
4. TheShield, whose members are Daffa Abdillah (Informatics Study Program), Aditya Pratama (Informatics Study Program), and Muhammad Shumin (Information Systems Study Program), recorded a score of 1558.9, placing them in 849th place in the world from thousands of global participating teams.
"We are very proud of this achievement. These results show the ability, hard work and competitive spirit of Bakrie University students at the international level," said Dr. Iwan Adhicandra, Ph.D., SMIEEE, Head of the Informatics Study Program and IEEE Student Branch Counselor at Bakrie University.
"Involvement in events like IEEEXtreme is not only about competition, but also character building, resilience, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in the field of technology," he added.
IEEEXtreme is an annual global competition where IEEE student members participate in a 24-hour programming marathon, solving a series of problems with various levels of difficulty. This event is one of IEEE's main platforms for cultivating young talents in the fields of computing, algorithms and software engineering.
Bakrie University's active participation in global events such as IEEEXtreme shows the institution's commitment to preparing a generation of IT professionals who are superior, internationally competitive and adaptive to global technological developments.
